Nurses

In the State of Texas there are 3 distinct areas of Nursing Practice: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Registered Nurse (RN), and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).

The Texas Board of Nursing (BON) assumes a proactive leadership role in regulating nursing practice and nursing education. In support of the Board's purpose and responsibility, BON provides information on Nursing Practice including the Nursing Practice Act, BON Rules and Guidelines, BON Position Statements. Change My Address and/or Name

It is important to keep your address current. The Texas Administrative Code 217.7 states that all nurses/applicants for licensure shall notify the board in writing within ten days of a change of name and or address by submitting a legal document reflecting this name change and/or providing the new address with his or her license number.

The Texas Board of Nursing will use the address of record for official notices it sends by mail. These notices often require a response from the licensee. The license may never get the notice. Nevertheless, failure to maintain an accurate address can lead to an adverse action against the nurse’s license including suspension or revocation by default.
